Sig location for the 20th?

Mon, 02/25/2013 - 23:54
Sorry if I missed this, and we have a location already.

I think the new Hacker Dojo could accommodate us, but I am not a member. Looks like they were starting to move in on Saturday, so I don't know if they're quite ready.

Trimble Scout Master

Mon, 02/25/2013 - 23:54
Sorry for the cross-post.

Hi,

Don't laugh, but I have an old Trimble Scout Master which no longer
locks on satellites, presumably due to the year 2000 problem.

Is there a firmware update?

Thanks,

Alan

Ping & SRO4 sensor interference

Wed, 02/20/2013 - 23:50
Hello all,
As you may know, I'm working on a robot for the Tablebot Challenge at
Robogames this year. My approach to Stage 2 (find a block and push it off
the table) is to use an ultrasonic sensor to sense the block. (Right now
I'm using a Ping)))<[link]>sensor, but my current plan is to use an

Problems with turtlebot and face tracking

Wed, 02/20/2013 - 01:22
I'm trying to run the facetracking tutorial from the Ros by Example book
and I'm running into some trouble. I need to run three different launch
files to get it working. For anyone that has the book those three launch
files are Openni node, face_tracker2, and object_tracker.
Everything works fine, although with a ton of lag, if I run all the launch

I have a design file I want to put on my website but I don't want to pay a
lot for a converter for this one time use. Does anyone know of a free tool
or service?

SIG Meeting Location

Sat, 02/16/2013 - 06:45
We've been meeting the past several years at TechShop in Menlo Park.
Apparently, in 2011 TechShop killed the standing meeting reservations
and made signing up for the conference room limited to 2 weeks ahead.
They let us slip but now for 2013, it's being enforced.

This month the room is already reserved all day on the 20th, our

Speakers Wanted!

Sat, 02/16/2013 - 06:45
Dear Friends,

If you are willing, or know of someone willing to present to our club, please send me suggestions. In particular, I want to feature the theme of "Home Based Telepresence" in April. It would be great if we could have several Platforms side be side so we can see different approaches to the problem. If we could get Double, Suitable, Ologic and couple of others it would be terrific.

Cable and App for GPS on an iPhone?

Fri, 02/15/2013 - 23:14
sorry for the duplicate post.

Anyone seen an application for an iPhone to allow me to do serial read
of my u-Blox 5 GPS? I need a highly portable (and compatible) GPS unit
to record my own waypoints for RoboMagellan.

P.S. I've machined new motor mounts and I'm switching to 1:1 timing

HBRC 2013 Club Robot

Thu, 02/14/2013 - 07:04
All:

As I mentioned at the HBRC club meeting last Wednesday, I am
proposing that the HBRC sponsor another club robot class. We did
it in 2011 and it was quite popular. Like the 2011 robot, the
2013 robot would use an Arduino as the main processor.

This robot would be open to all HBRC members. HBRC membership

Make your robot a wifi hotspot

Thu, 02/14/2013 - 00:17
Is anyone interested in seeing how to make their Linux
based robot into a WiFi hotspot? This might make your
robot easier to control from your phone or laptop.

I've recently had good luck with the Sabrent USB-A11N

MTG VENUE CHANGED!

Sat, 02/09/2013 - 00:27
All:

This is a repeat of Michael Cipriano's message that we are meeting in
a *different* Google location tonight. We are meeting at:

1300 Charleston Road, Mountain View, CA

The venue is on Charleston Rd, but it is closer to Shoreline Blvd.
The venue is on the other side of the street as well. Assuming
